A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), and Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), John Imoukhuede Obaigbo is an Accounting graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State and holder of MBA (Marketing) from the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos State. He has 12 years’ experience in accounting, tax, business support, investment banking and over 18 years expertise in revenue and taxes enhancement, automation, administration, collection, receipting and remittances.

He resigned his employment as Vice President at BGL Plc (an investment banking firm) to venture into consultancy services, albeit as Group Head, Corporate Support Services Division, he oversaw stock operations and middle/back-office management, including but not limited to Financial Control, Treasury, Stock Operations, Administration, Human Resources, Research & Strategy for the banking firm. He was also Head of Corporate Finance overseeing the banking firm’s mandates in corporate restructuring, private equity and venture capital management, financial advisory, corporate finance, project finance, asset management, privatisation and commercialization, financial intermediation. Landmark transactions Mr. Obaigbo did midwifed/incubated or team-executed include but not limited to Merger of Oceanic Bank International Plc and International Trust Bank Plc, Acquisition of United Bank for Africa Plc and Standard Trust Bank Plc.

He was also involved in the Unbundling of Dangote Industries Limited, Bureau of Public Enterprises Privatization/Restructuring of Federal Superphosphate Fertilizer, Hans Gremlin (Nigeria) Limited – 51 % acquisition of Capital Hotels Plc (owners of Abuja Sheraton Hotel & Towers) worth N4.302 billion, Daar Communications Plc Private Placement, Recapitalization and Restructuring exercises, N.D.D.C. Debt Collection exercise of N200 billion from Oil Producing Companies and J.V.’s, Acquisition of West Africa Refinery Company Limited “WARCO” by a consortium of Sahara Energy Group & PPI as a result of FGN and Oando divestment of equity stake, Project Monitoring of Delta State N100bn Bond Programme (N50bn Series 1ssue), Food Emporium Int’l Ltd (sole franchisee of Barcelos) Private Placement of 300 million Ordinary Shares of 50k each at N2.50 per share, Public Offer of First Atlantic Bank Plc shares worth N2.25 billion, Standard Trust Bank Plc IPO worth N8.4b, Asset Resource & Management Company “ARM” Discovery Fund Public Offer of 15m units of N100 each @ N105/unit to mention but a few.

As the Pioneering Managing Consultant/CEO of Sycamore Consulting Limited for 8 years, a consulting company engaged in revenue and tax management, tax audit and monitoring agent (TAMA), and Internally Generated Revenue automation and enhancement for State Governments, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s)

He oversaw Lead Revenue & Tax Consultancy mandate to Delta State Board of Internal Revenue Service enhancing the State’s monthly IGR from N3.2bn to N5.2bn within 12 months, Lead Tax Consultant to Gombe State Board of Internal Revenue Service, enhancing it’s monthly IGR from N300m to N550m. As CEO of Sycamore Consulting Limited, he also oversaw Tax Audit & Monitoring Agency service rendition to Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Kogi State Internal Revenue Service. He is still a director of Sycamore Consulting Limited and Sycaplus Consult (its subsidiary).

Currently as Managing Consultant/CEO of Coriander Consulting, he is overseeing a Revenue & Tax Consultancy mandate to Taraba State Internal Revenue Service, and a Specialized Withholding Tax Audit on Banks Customers Interest Income on Deposits & Investments for Kogi State Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Obaigbo was a Director of the defunct CRIB Pension Fund Administrator and is currently the Grand Patron of Offspring of Love Foundation (a charity and NGO welfare ministry for the physically challenged, aged, widows and orphans). He offers consultancy services to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and is Revenue & Tax Capacity Building coach to Access Bank Plc, and several Relevant Tax Authorities. He is married with Children.
